netlink rfidTM & WiFi Systems: Bridging the Gap Between
Wi-Fi, Active RFID and GPS
The netlink rfidTM; suite of products provides Enterprise Visibility
Solutions using standard Wi-Fi wireless networks as an infrastructure.
Netlink rfidTM's patent-pending Wi-Fi positioning technologies
use the wireless infrastructure to locate any standard 802.1b/g mobile
unit, such as laptops, PDAs, barcode scanners and RFID
readers, in addition to battery-powered Netlink rfidTM Tags
attached to people or any other assets and equipment. netlink rfidTM;
provides the visibility tools for developers to create location-enabled
applications.

Primary Benefits
Locates Wi-Fi enabled devices: Wireless devices enabled
with Wi-Fi including PDAs, barcode scanners, and laptops
can be located using netlink rfid TM. Allowing simple implementation
in public environments, this system does not require any modifications
in hardware or software, which eliminates one of the challenges
of management.
Locates devices that are not Wi-Fi enabled: The netlink rfid TM system uses small battery-powered tags, which can track non stationary objects including humans and a variety of accessories and equipments.
Provides reliable and precise TDOA location: It is not the signal strength information but the Time Difference Of Arrival (TDOA) algorithm that is used to locate objects by netlink rfid TM engine. This technology is more accurate and authentic. In this case, radio map calibration processes and client-side software drivers are not required. It offers good positioning data along with low Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
Used outdoors as well as indoors: There is no restriction to the environment where this technology is operational. Netlink rfid TM can be effectively used outdoors like fields and road as well as in closed areas like offices and departmental stores.
Offers accessible platform for third-party applications: The users of netlink rfid tm have the freedom to implement their own solutions, which is possible using the tools provided by this technology. The netlink rfid TM offers a set of tools to design, test, and implement enterprise-class location-based applications.
Does not require dedicated backbone network: Only standard Ethernet connections are required in all communication between the netlink rfid TM and its components.
System Components
netlink rfidTM Tags
netlink rfid TM tags include the T1
Tag and T2 tag models. These tags enable the wireless network
infrastructure to detect and locate objects that are not connected
to any wireless network, for example humans. These battery-powered,
rugged, programmable tags send very short 802.11b messages at a
predefined interval.
The Tags' main features include a long battery life (up to 5 years), flexible mounting options, compact enclosure, a wireless or serial programming interface and clear channel assessment that avoids sending messages when Wi-Fi data traffic is present.
netlink rfidTM Location Receivers
Netlink rfid TM Location Receivers provide powerful location measurement capabilities. Each of these Location Receivers can process over 300 location measurements per second thereby satisfying even the most demanding applications. netlink rfid's patent pending algorithms are embedded in the Location Receivers, which enables the measurement of the time of interval of a standard 802.11b messages in a fraction of nanosecond.
Generally, a small access point Location Receiver includes a Power-over-Ethernet adaptor and an external antenna connector. To avoid using wired Ethernet connection, Location Receivers can be connected to a wireless bridge. netlink rfid TM Location Receivers are also available in NEMA enclosures.
netlink rfidTM; Engine
The netlink rfid TM is the principle software component that collects and processes location data. This engine uses sophisticated algorithms to combat indoor multi-path. The Positioning Server processes the TDOA data received from the Location Receivers and provides accurate and reliable location data required by mission-critical applications.
The netlink rfidTM; Engine includes the following main
components:
- netlink rfidTM; Positioning Server: primary component responsible for TDOA Location and Presence calculations and measurements.
- netlink rfidTM; System Manager: an installation, configuration,
and maintenance tool. It helps in system setup, importing data and
map configuration. Also responsible for upgrades and location-system
maintenance.
- netlink rfidTM; Positioning API: an open XML interface used by application developers to create a wide variety of wireless location-based applications.
- netlink rfidTM; Analysis and Design tools: a set of sophisticated tools used for planning, designing, and analyzing various systems. These tools include utilities like system accuracy analysis, synchronization analysis and system coverage reports, which enable pre and post installation activities smooth and efficient.
netlink rfidTM;
netlink rfidTM netlink rfid TM provides a highly flexible platform that offers increased visibility throughout the enterprise. It makes application integration easier for real-time display and mobile asset management. To achieve this, our solution uses the positioning data received from the netlink rfid TM Engine. It includes a customizable and easy to manage database that contains location data, asset names and categories, and named zones. Location-enabled applications developed using netlink rfid TM can be used in various environments like hospitals, manufacturing plants, and distribution facilities. Our solution is supplied with a free web-based end-user application to enable search and display of mobile assets.
